I hear this all the time and the answer is “Yes, virtual dog behavior consulting works! No, I don’t need to see the behavior your dog struggles with to help them.” It’s not fair to put your dog in a situation to practice these behaviors and deal with the stress it causes. It’s not fair to put you into that situation where you would have to deal with the stress the behavior causes. 

In my experience most dogs do not need “dog training” right away. Many of our dogs are struggling with their behavior because they are lacking appropriate mental stimulation and physical exercise. Or, they are dealing with an undiagnosed medical condition. It could also be a combination of several underlying conditions. “Dog training”  doesn’t help if your dog isn’t feeling well. 

Working virtually also has other advantages: 

• Working virtually allows me to offer this service at a lower rate compared to in-person
• Nervous dogs don’t have to deal with strangers in their home
• You don’t have to work with the local balanced trainer that uses punitive methods because that is your only option
• Looking for assistance with adopting a new dog? That doesn’t require a home visit!
